I was advised to diversify my portfolio among several assets such as stocks and bonds since they can protect my portfolio for retirement of about $170k. I need advice: Do I keep contributing to my portfolio in this unstable market or do I look into alternative sectors?

Been watching, listening, and paying attention to all of predictions and forecasts since early Covid. He hasn't disappointed yet 👌

With a Roth IRA, the money you put in has already been taxed. You can withdraw your contributions tax-free and penalty-free. Plus, any investment earnings can also be withdrawn tax-free and penalty-free. Unsure about liquidating your stock portfolio? It's a big decision. Let's weigh the pros and cons together. I’m still at a crossroad deciding if to split my $300k portfolio btw 401k/IRA .

51 years old. I have $295, 588.25 in my Fidelity retirement account. I cranked my contributions up to 35% and I do all the investing on my own. Fidelity just holds my ETFs/stocks. I made that change earlier this year. I'm hoping to end the rat race by 60 but it's looking more like 63-ish. I want to have $1.5M and bring in about $60k in dividends each year. Pedal to the floor! Thanks for the video. Great content.

Choosing a Roth IRA is advantageous as it uses after-tax funds and allows tax-free growth. When I retired, I had $3M million saved, and I won't be taxed on my withdrawals.

Retirees who struggle to meet their basic needs are the ones who could not accumulate enough money during their active years to meet their needs. Retirement choices determine a lot of things. My parents both spent same number of years in the civil service, but my mom was investing through a wealth manager, and my dad through the 401k. My mom retired with about 4.2 million, but my dad retired with roughly 1.8 million.

My advice to new investors: Buy good companies stocks and hold them as long as they are good companies. Just do this and ignore the forecasts and market views which are at best entertaining but completely useless

Impressive video. I started a bit late (graduated from my doctorate program at age 30 in 2016 with 170k in school loan debt). Managed to pay off my debt by 2019 and currently have a house and 250k total in investments (combo of profit share, 401k and a brokerage account). I'm not very knowledgeable with investing, so I have all my capital currently vested in index funds but considering the dollar dumping and current inflation crisis. How optimal would this be beneficial long term?

This was so helpful, thank you! A lot of other videos showed how to set up a roth ira and what to invest in, but now how to actually search for the index funds and how to contribute in them. Also, the automatic transfer information at the end was so helpful.

The utilization of after-tax money and tax-free growth makes opening a Roth IRA very advantageous. Through a careful guidance of my FA, I did not pay taxes on my withdrawals of $2.86 million when I retired.

Fidelity FSKAX and etf FTEC are a great 2 fund combo. 70% FSKAX and 30% FTEC.

Good tutorial. The only thing I'd say is that it's not a great idea to buy funds based on past returns. Magellan fund is a great example of this. Reversion to the mean usually kicks in and leads to underperformance for the investor who jumps into the top funds. Growth funds have been beating the S&P 500 for the past decade or so, but no guarantee value stocks will not outperform over the next decade. In fact, it's probably more likely to flip than stay the same. Jack Bogle's book Common Sense on Mutual funds is a great read on the subject and so is Clash of Cultures (specifically chapter 9). Also, never underestimate the importance of how costs (expense ratio) can impact returns in the long-run.

Smaller, speculative stocks have endured a historically weak stretch. Investors are betting that a turnaround is finally in the works. I’ve lost about $320k within a few months, how do i take advantage of the market turnaround?
