we're based on Debian stable, but we always do some updates ourselves to have the distribution stable but also up-to-date

...and yes, the glitch is on purpose 🦜

Thank you for the video!

I don't use Parrot OS, but I use one of their macaw wallpapers. EDIT: The reason I use the macaw wallpaper is because I have a macaw.

Parrot OS is not based on any testing repo. It is based on Debian stable ( bookworm ). But they use their own repo for some packages

The glitch effect was 100% intentional, at least it looked that way to me.

Anonsurf routes all your traffic thourgh tor so its very nicely done in parrot. those button your clicked just started and stopped the tor routing and the refresh give you new node exit

The glitch effect is intentional, gives you a little bit of a 'Matrix' or 'Terminator' vibe. 🙂

That Glitch effect has been in Parrot for a while. I remember seeing it for the first time. I was concerned as well. But yeah, pretty cool little effect especially for an OS such as this one.

I love Debian as my desktop distro and never even considered using Parrot's Home version, cool review!

for those who want to know the difference between Parrot Home and Parrot Security editions:

Parrot Home Edition and Parrot Security Edition are identical, and the only difference between them is the set of software that comes pre-installed.
Parrot OS Home Edition comes with no security tools, while Parrot OS Security Edition comes with all the hacking and pentest tools pre-installed.

I have distro hopped for many years, and have enjoyed many Debian based GNU/Linux operating systems for my home desktop. I had a revelation, and decided to use a community based only distribution.
So, I installed the real deal. Debian 12 is now on my desktop. I do not believe I will ever feel the need to "hop" again.

Parrot OS was the first Linux distro I ever installed. Loved it back then, and I’m glad to see how awesome it looks now. Might be what I choose next distro hop.

I strongly disagree with merging Mate's two panels into one. I absolutely hate when distros do that and have a single crappy application menu. And I say crappy, because the ones usually used in Mate and Xfce to serve this purpose suck. Unfortunately, half of the Xfce and Mate implementations I come across are screwed up in this way, trying to make them more Windows-like. It's nice to come across one that hasn't been butchered.

I personally prefer that a distro makes minimal changes to the desktop environment aside from maybe the desktop background and the little icon for the Kicker/"Start" menu, and present the desktop as its developers intended. From there you're free to consolidate the panels and tweak your own desktop however you want.

Also, Autohiding the taskbar sort of helps get rid of the double taskbar theme so they probably won't be getting rid of that any time soon. I agree... It's kind of pointless to have 2 of them but autohiding one, makes sense.

I have been a huge fan of Parrot OS for at least 5 years, I never have a ventoy without parrot intstalled,

I even replaced my windows 11 pro with it on my desktop.

If anyone has recent hardware you can't use this if the Linux Kernel is 6.1 version you will need like 6.3 or higher; if for example you have a 7800x3d and 7800xt graphics card. Just thought to let others know so you don't waste your time installing on a new machine.

I've been using Ubuntu based Linux all of my life. I've been thinking about moving to Debian recently, this may be just what I'm looking for.

I got my window decoration on the left as well (currently with gnome 46). I believe its best for languages been written from left to right.
