Difference Between Tokenization and Encryption Explained

Both tokenization and encryption technologies have long been integral tools for securing sensitive data. While they both have a place in protecting sensitive data stored in the enterprise and when in transit over the Internet, there are clear differences in the degree of protection they provide, as well as implementation flexibility.

I googled "https vs tokenization" and found this video. Very helpful! The only thing I was hoping you'd discuss was how if information is tokenized, say for credit card authentication, does the payment processor ever extract the credit card data. Or perhaps tokenization is ONE-WAY and not applicable to my example.
