Damn it!

No more slips and falls from the glaciers of the Ladakh ranges?

Not good! Not good at all!

We haven’t gotten even for the 4500 Chinese soldiers that Indians troops have pushed over the cliffs of the treacherous ranged up there!!!

We must not let the Indians get away with this! I mean the ratio, 4500 to 20, is unfair! Very unfair!!!

While Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping met in person for the first time in five years, at the the BRICS summit held on October 23-24, 2023, their discussions did not culminate in a formal agreement or resolution to the ongoing border disputes

As of now, there has been no direct statement issued by Chinese President Xi Jinping regarding the recent agreement between India and China concerning this “deal break through “.

They did not resolve key issues at two primary friction points: Depsang and Demchok. These locations remain under a type of unresolved standoff.

However, it’s important to note that while the Indian media portrays the meeting as a breakthrough, the lack of concrete outcomes or signed agreements has led to a more cautious interpretation from analysts. Chinese media, on the other hand, have maintained a stance focusing on achieving stability and control.

From their perspective, the border “buffer zones” along the Line of Actual Control may be perceived as a semi-permanent feature, implying a Chinese belief that it has achieved de facto control over disputed areas since 2020.

After few month or year someone is going to occupie that space silently.... Be like a tiger - strategy... Why pushing bach that is not the permanent solution, according to marked boundaries soldiers want to patrol regularly.... Pushing back from marked territories is leads to loss the boundaries...Not doing the duty according to law that creates problem later...

China imports, including finished products, components, chemicals, and heavy equipment, are the wind beneath the "Make In India" GDP growth story. Without Chinese imports, there won't be much GDP growth in India.

Modi made a huge mistake in 2020, instigating a border conflict with China. He expected that China would make concession, given that China was at trade war and tech war with USA. Instead, China gave India a bloody nose. Worst yet, Trump left office soon after, along goes the promise of having US FDI and friendshoring to India.

Over the last 4 years, Modi and Biden kept the engagement, with QUAD meetings and Indo-Pacific meetings. But, there is little FDI and friendshoring for infrastructure and manufacturing ecosystem development. Mostly are US paper money flooding the Indian stock market.

Fast forward to 2024, knowing US won't give India much, Modi is swinging its legs toward Russia/China camp. Modi is hoping that with the border issue thawing, China might start investing in India's infrastructure and manufacturing ecosystem. Further, India wants to put pressure on USA, showing that India can do without USA.

From both US and China perspectives, they know that India is just sitting on the fence, swinging its legs between US/EU camp and Russia/China camp. As long as India does not COMPLETELY go with either side, it is fine with them. Thus, both would smile to India, and give something to India to keep it sitting on the fence. In geopolitical term, it is called "Managing India."

From India's perspective, it is good enough too. It does not cost India much to swing camps. And it gets to have something in return. Better yet, Indians have the impression that its government is DOING SOMETHING for the betterment of India long term. So, they are happy.

Everyone is happy. Everyone smiles at India, including Indians themselves. :)
