Though Indian cricket wasn't great at that moment we used to watch cricket with passion and now adays Indian cricket had become strong but lacks passion due to abundant money. when sachin got a stable player on the opposite end in the early overs of indian batting, someone who would not loose wicket and keep scoring some runs, that is when pressure eased off sachin and he would be able to play his natural attacking game.. That is when sachin would ultimately play long innings, score big runs and get india to victory. When other batsmen lost wickets early, then all pressure would be on him and he would have to play defensive, less attacking game. He would have made india win more matches had he got good partners who would not loose wickets early in the game. There is a reason why people turned off television sets when sachin got out, because v v few players in those days could make india win alongside sachin.Truly the god of cricket. His performances were great in the days when he had support from dada, dravid, sehwag and Yuvi.
