I Make a Life-Size Rug of My Dog

I wanted to make custom art of my dog. So I got a tufting gun and yarn and learned how to make a rug. It started with a dog portrait digital sketch, then I projected it life size and traced Braxton onto monk's cloth. Then I used 6 different shades of yarn to tuft a giant rug of him life-size. My first time rug making! A rug of my dog that lays around just like my dog. I hooooope he likes it.

Christine nor Braxton gave you the appropriate response to how amazing that finished up! It looks great and I can't believe it's your first tuft project

Genuinely very impressive tufting. I also love how Braxton’s eye is so huge at the end like “what is this me I am laying on”

Finally a project where Christine wasn't like... "what did you do?"

The fact that you do all of your stuff by hand shows me that you enjoy the thrill of the work and that, in my estimation, shows that YOU truly are OUTRAGEOUS!

You made a completely perfect look a like of your dog with Elmer's glue and safety scissors. Imagine how incredible your art would be with proper funding and equipment. You could make your car into a giant furry Braxton that looks like it's running when you drive. Or paint made of lights that you can put on your car that can turn it into a TV that shows how you are feeling and what you are saying. Imagine your trunk turning black and showing words that say "too close" when you get nervous about someone tailgating you. Or little hearts appearing all over the car when you see the car next you has a puppy in the window!

This is literally my kinda tutorial. Especially regarding how to get a frame to stay upright without requiring a ton of stuff or leaning it against the wall.

Cross beams with brackets.

TADAAAA

Tutorial done. Lol

Now I'm going to use this idea to come up with a million other ideas for all my crafting and making adventures!! Lol 😂💕

Tuft times don't last, tuft people do.

Here’s a great tip for working with tack strips: Long pants and gloves! Great job on the rug though, somewhere in L.A., there should be an Ali Spagnola museum of outrageous art!

This is so great for your first tufting project! I hope you won’t be finding little pieces of yarn all over your floor for months to come.

I want to watch... but can't without crying. Your dog looks like my old dog Oscar. Who lived his life to 14 and had to be put down.... give Braxton a big kiss and hug from all of us who lost our best friends

Loved the way she played off of the dog whilst it just lay there. Cute video!

Whenever I see a rug tufting video and they do the shaving at the end I swear EVERY TIME my brain is like it’ll grow back in a few weeks. MY BRAIN THINKS RUGS GROW THIER SHEDS.

0:46 I can’t help but notice the medical equipment on your arm, Ali. Before I even knew you existed, I was surfing the inner webs and managed to fall down a rabbit hole of diabetics. (don’t ask me how, I legitimately don’t remember.) I noticed that many wear the same thing on their person to monitor their blood sugars and give themselves insulin.
My inner curiosity has worn me down whilst watching you and I must ask if you’re a diabetic. If so, I 100% support you in your struggle. I may not be a diabetic myself, (thankfully and miraculously, to spite my terrible eating habits.) I find it quite interesting to learn about the treatments for diabetes and am trying to understand the struggles behind it, purely because I became curious and went down a rabbit hole several months ago, I’ve now somehow managed to unearth myself and fix my recommendations from YouTube.
