This really saved me! I spent hours struggling with creating multiple and independent map frames from the same/original map where edits from one map frame were affecting contents in other map frames. Now, I can get rid of it by creating generic maps as you demonstrated here.

Thanks for getting down to the point so quickly. I am struggling with the arcmap to arcpro transition and most videos are like yeah yeah... but please just answer the basic question. This was JUST RIGHT!

Another good way to accomplish this is to save the Map frame by going to the Share Tab --> Save As Map 'Map File'. Then, go back to the Insert tab and choose Import Map. This works real well if the maps need to reference the original. Good luck!
