NEW Toyota bZ4X FACELIFT 2026 | Reveal & Details

The Toyota bZ4X battery-electric SUV is to undergo its first full lifecycle enhancement since the model was launched to spearhead Toyota’s battery electric vehicle (BEV) programme in 2022. The new package of technical upgrades will strengthen the model’s performance capabilities and enrich the ownership experience.

The new bZ4X is expected to be introduced in European markets after summer this year.

Dual battery option

The new bZ4X range is to grow with the introduction of two battery options. The mid-size SUV will now be offered with a choice of a 57.7 kWh or 73.1 kWh battery (gross capacity), so that customers can select a version that best suits their driving requirements and their budget.

The 57.7 kWh battery will be exclusive to the front-wheel drive bZ4X. The 73.1 kWh unit will be available in both front and all-wheel drive versions.

Maximum range according to WLTP drive cycle is expected to be 573 km (tentative value pending homologation), depending on grade and powertrain.

Increased power with enhanced eAxles

Toyota’s compact, lightweight and energy-efficient eAxles have also been upgraded. They now use silicon carbide (SIC) semiconductors, which help deliver higher power output, making the new bZ4X one of the most powerful Toyota models available in Europe outside the GR performance car range.

Three drivetrains are available:

57.7 kWh battery and 167 DIN hp (123 kW), front-wheel drive
73.1 kWh battery and 224 DIN hp (165 kW), front-wheel drive
73.1 kWh battery and 343 DIN hp (252 kW), all-wheel drive

The all-wheel drive version comes with towing capacity that has been doubled, to 1,500 kg. A new 22 kW AC onboard charger will also be available (High grade). The maximum DC charging power remains at 150 kW.

If Toyota wants to grab the EV market shares in the US and Canada, the time is now! People are looking for alternatives to Tesler, and there are no Chinese EVs in the US and Canada, not yet at least if you don’t count Volvo and Polestar.

The only question I have is why all 3 - BZ4X, C-HR+ and Urban Cruiser - are a bit huddled together in almost the same segment. However, they are all welcome additions to the EV landscape, and beat Kia out the gate with available AWD and 22kw AC charging.
