I moved to NH from Mass 29 years ago. Best thing I ever did. I have never regretted that for even a millisecond. My kids were raised here in NH and are thriving. It does make me sad that people move here and try to make it like where ever they came from, which ironically made them leave there in the first place. “Welcome to NH, now don’t Mass it up”. Generally NH is very much “do your own thing and I’ll do mine, just don’t tell me what to do (or think) and I’ll extend you that same favor”.

BUILD THE WALL (between New Hampshire and Massachusetts)!

From roughly Hanover and Concord to the south, it is becoming "North Boston".

I often get the feeling all these "Don't move here videos" I watch are meant to detour Californians from coming there and ruining their state too.

Southern New Hampshire is contaminated by its proximity to toxic Massachusetts. North and southern have very little in common.

I'm glad I learned to drive in NH, having experienced the most dangerous road conditions winters bring. I can pretty much drive anywhere with confidence.

I was born and raised here and my family has been in the same small town for 249 years and I have no plans to leave it.

Lived in NH from 1971 -2009. My kids/grandkids still live there. They have good jobs and can pay their bills for now. Once I retired I could no longer afford to live there. For example, my modest house had property tax, insurance, heating, maintenance, electricity costs almost twice as much as my Social Security. Add to that cost high food and gas prices I had to sell out and move south.

The Northeast in general is un-affordable for the average family or middle class. We all know this, yet we swallow the greed and corruption of state and local entities and continue to fork over our tithes like peasants, believing there is nowhere else to go. I truly admire the few who have the strength to get the hell out why they can.

Property taxes are high in many areas, even the northern towns.

I don’t even know what he’s going to say yet but he’s right, don’t move here, we’re full.

I really appreciate videos that are willing to state the cons of something that is otherwise good. Your editing skills are also very good. Thank you!

Southern NH and southern Maine are very similar in that they are both really northern Massachusetts. That’s where all our states money is and where it all goes. “We did just fine before you got here and we’ll be fine after you leave.” A quote to some Connecticut folks from my dad from deep inland Maine.

Honestly, I'm fine with others not moving here lol. I've been used to the winters for a long time now, and the major suburbs to Boston are very expensive, but there are many more options that are affordable. The seasons, people, low impact from climate change (so far), and access to New England as a whole are very worthwhile reasons to move here. NH also has some of the best education in the country too.

Move here, don't move here, your call, but I would say that you're missing out. Once you can get past the NH vibe of "crunchy exterior and gooey inside", you'll feel right at home.

On work and recreation: Southern NH is an hour away from Boston and large numbers of people living in Southern NH commute to work in the Greater Boston area. Boston has entertainment, nightlife, college and sports venues as well and world-class healthcare. But the Greater Boston area is much more expensive to live in which is why a lot of Mass residents move to NH.

What about the real estate tax? No income or sales tax but they make up for it with the real estate tax.

As a vermonter this is spot on for both. Also for those who move further north, think littleton, berlin, lancaster area expect long drives for simple things like healthcare, groceries and getting something as simple as light bulbs
