What's supposed to be going through that line? The white tape on the existing fitting is for water, and the yellow tape used in the demo is for natural gas, propane, and butane.

Is sealing tape ever needed for a tubing fitting? Likely not but in some cases it might have some utility. Of course yellow tape is for gas fittings, blue or white is for water.

The hose might have a rubber seal, but tape the threads is still a safer step
