Definitely the simplest usb creator video making use of system utils already out there, i've seen for a long time without memorising a whole bunch of terminal commands. cheers to you.

One thing needed to be added to this video. Macs with a T2 chip or M-series are set up to not allow booting from external drives. I ran into this exact problem when trying to reinstall an OS right after wiping the drive. You have to boot into recovery and enable booting from an external drive with an existing admin account with the Startup Security Utility. If you wipe your drive before enabling this, there’s no admin account, so the only option is to use Internet recovery.

I don't have any reason of installing this, but it does give me an idea -- I may eventually buy another used Mac device and see if I could install it onto that one 😁if it doesn't work, that's fine. I just like testing stuff out like that lol

Hi 9to5 Mac Do you know if there has been a beta software release for iOS 18 on the AirPod pros? Yours sincerely Holly

I notice that I don't get the same variety of installers when I do this. I only see 14.5 and 14.4.1 ... I wonder why?

EDIT: With Sonoma Public Betas switched on; 14.6 shows up. But there is no option in the Software Update control panel for Sequoia. Only Off or Sonoma Public Beta.

When I start the install to the USB drive I get: macOS Sequoia Beta.app does not appear to be a valid OS installer application.
Any ideas?

I'm running Sonoma 14.5 here and just tried this and Sequoia is not listed. Do you have to be running a developer branch?
