Just wish these 5 features in Android 14
1. Battery Health
2. Stacked widgets
3. Maintenance Mode
4. Universal Control (within android, wear os, chrome os and google tv)
5. Strict granular app permissions

That dual SIM feature is so nice. I go to a ton of super remote oil and gas sites, and often, only one carrier services the general region. Autoswapping will be extremely convenient, if it's actually implemented in Android 14.

I've been a Samsung user since like 5 years now and have always noticed how every year a new Android version gets released with features that've already existed on OneUI.

Just realized he's explaining all the one ui features

@0:25 is another reason why it's so hard to leave Samsung. Samsung had Flash notifications for years, and like cloak work, Google and Apple get features that Samsung had years ago but of course doesn't get credit for it

Something I would love to see back, is AMOLED dark theme and more color options for material U.

I see a lot of people wishing features that are present in one ui. It shows that 3rd party developers knows more than Google.

They need to make ChromeOS a DeX like feature in Android.

This makes me excited to jump from a Google Pixel 4 Xl to a Google Pixel 8, possibly the 8 pro!

@3:20: You totally got me freaking out for a minute or two with that "back screen" animation, well played sir...

4:00 I'm pretty sure the new window is a play protect change and not an Android change because I have it on my Motorola phone with Android 12

AV1 can make it less efficient if you've device doesn't have hardware AV1 decoding, depending on the decoder.

Finally we're getting some of the features from one UI. One UI is great but the double apps and the way the animations are not as smooth as pixel UI is what's keeping me with Google.

Can you also make a video explaining all the one ui 5.0 (or 5.1) features

The pixel is the only phone I've ever owned where the notification shade is accessible on the lock screen. A thief can steal and put your phone on airplane mode without unlocking it.

So basically a settings app update, some *slight* modifications to gestures in a good way and a lot of stuff being blocked on the premise of security and a bunch of other stuff already provided by other OEM's. It really does feel a bit insignificant to me ngl.

This video made me realize how important the open source nature of Android is.
The vast majority of features in this video and I mean, around 90% of them, are available in iOS or other Android distributions such as OneUI, this video made me realize how much third party companies actually keep pushing android forward with new and exciting features.
I wonder how different the smartphone space today would be if android was closed source and companies such as Samsung, OnePlus, Xiaomi or Nothing had to develop and maintain their own OS.

i don't mean to bash on google for being late on adding features, , they're the ones maintaining the foundations of the OS after all, but still, it's interesting to see how far android has come because of its open source nature.
