How to use Back Tap on iPhone | Apple Support

Tap tap. Take a screenshot. Or go to the Home Screen. Or open Control Center. You can set up Back Tap to perform an action when you double-tap or triple-tap the back of your device.

It’s a bit of a hit or miss sometimes. But after using it for a few weeks I “calibrated” myself to tap in the way the iPhone recognizes the best. It’s pretty handy!

I added screenshot as my double tap which makes it so much easier than trying to click the volume and home button at the same time

I had double tap set for flashlight and triple tap set for camera for a few months and found that sometimes when i put the phone down, the camera or the flashlight would activate on their own. I found this annoying enough to stop using this feature. I also found that with a phone case, tap actions wouldn’t work most of the time. Perhaps there’s a knack to the timing of the taps!

PRO TIP: Itsnot a hit or miss. You are jut tapping on the wrong spot! TAP ON THE SPACE BESIDE THE CAMERA PANEL nd not on the logo. It works 9/10 for me

I set this to quick tap and open my camera. Every single time I’ve ever tried to do it, it doesn’t work. Yet I pick up my phone or have it sitting on the passenger seat and hit a pothole and the camera comes on.

I have set up the daoble back tap... and when I put down a phone on the surface (one edge touch surface first, and then the other) - iPhone recohnized that as a double tap.

I love this feature, however I have had to disable it, it turns out I tap the back of my phone an awful lot without noticing.

Ive been doing this on my android for a year now. But on my ip 14 pro max its a hit or miss. Sometimes i even need to tap it so hard as i have phone case

I assigned a triple tap to show or hide the AssistiveTouch on-screen button. There is nothing more convenient than the custom AssistiveTouch features. I set a long press to take a screenshot, a double press to turn off the screen. And a single tap opens a menu where I can adjust the volume, restart the device, bring in Notification Center, Spotlight, etc.

I had to turn mine off because when I’m driving and it’s on my mount it triggers the back tap and hides my maps or will start speaking the screen because of the vibrations from driving.
