I think he didnt stick to basketball by choice .He was forced to . U see there was a bowling alley incident which cause allen to be jailed for very long . It was later discovered that he wasnt involved . Still his name is sort of damaged so the football didnt want him . Eventually begging george to allow him to basketball and he rised to the no.1 draft pick of nba

You’re stories can be somewhat misleading.., I think the truth is more interesting he had multiple offers to place either basketball or football but ran into legal issues following an altercation at bowling alley all schools dropped the offers ALL but Georgetown threw him a rope to play basketball & he took it, the rest is history.
