I feel blessed. I love the video of the inside of the cave. The art . The burials. I’m 66years old. So much of our understanding of ancient humans has changed since I was a child. Thank you Kayleigh for presenting this video.

I have wondered for a lot of years if the whole 'brain size to body mass' thing is a rough rule of thumb that we have put far too much weight upon. It can hugely difficult, if not impossible, to really examine brain 'complexity' vs size of the brain case....
I love all the evidence here!!! Looking forward to learning a lot more about these results!!!

This is an astonishing discovery for the history of the world. My mind races to a possible continuous connection for hundreds of thousands of years of a long chain of hominid cultures, (some 300, 000 years ago ) that evolved into the early Homo Sapiens cave writing and tool making cultures, ( 78, 000 years ago ) that evolved into Göbekli Tepe type cultures, ( 12, 000 years ago ) that evolved into Sumerian and Harapan cultures, ( 5, 000 years ago ), and eventually into...us. And we are evolving into whatever the AI phase of evolution will make us. As a mere history buff I'm allowed to "trip out" on these kind of ideas whereas true academics and scientists have to stick to the facts and not over speculate. But these discoveries are wonderful and mind boggling. Thank you Dr. Berger and your team and all other scientists like you. Real science, paleontology and history are way more fascinating and weird than all the "woo" alternate bullshit history.

I grew up in Olifantsfontein, not too far from the rising star caves. I was lucky enough to attend a few of Prof Tobias's public lectures (Prof Berger's predecessor). I am also a former mining engineer, so I know what it feels like to be in a confined space with no natural light. Prof Berger's discoveries are mind blowing, the rock art blew me away. It's inconceivable to me that that Homo naledi could have performed complex rituals and produced that rock art in hard to reach places without the assistance of firelight.

Thanks for this, Kayleigh. Pretty incredible stuff. Been following this new info closely and this was a great talk on all this astonishing evidence. This stuff will be enthusiastically argued over for years now!

This seems like it truly has the potential to completely change our understanding of ancient hominids. I look forward to every new detail being uncovered.

This the most fascinating interview I have ever seen. They were human. They laughed, they cried, they rejoiced and they mourned just like we do

My jaw dropped and I just sat in awe when the images of the likely carvings in the cave… I have no word other than that this is just remarcable. Totally could reshape our image of “human” evolution and history. Congrats to you both; well done!

Thanks for this great interview with Dr. Berger! I appreciate his down-to-earth manner and clear approach to discussing these finds. Videos of this caliber put you well above the vast majority of people talking about history on Youtube. Well done!

Mindblowing stuff. The "hash tags". I've seen Dr. Berger interviewed before but this was truly great to just go through the footage and have him explain it, really made the experience come alive.

I recall the NOVA/NG documentary about the initial cave's discovery and the first team that went into the cave - how Dr. Berger commented that he would never be able to physically enter the cave due to the tight proximity, (and the need for very small non-claustrophobic individuals to attempt the expedition inside) and it made me smile to see that yes, he was actually able to physically enter and explore areas of the cave. Oh, what wonderful and exciting discoveries. WOW WOW WOW!
