I think the biggest issue with flight is it doesn't come with invincibility so if you fly into a bug at 200mph it's basically like being shot

Swimming is the better option in my opinion because of the traits he gave.

Super speed while underwater would be seriously beneficial in areas like fishing, underwater exploration and water based rescues (if you're into that kind of thing)

Negating water pressure no matter how deep it is would require a massive amount of control over your body's density and integrity, which could mean you could negate other pressures as well.

Being able to see underwater with no obstructions from the fact that you're, you know, underwater would be incredibly helpful and give you a massive strategic advantage.

As terrifying as the ocean is, I would still choose the swimming thing because if I pass out in the ocean there's only a chance I die a horrible death. If I pass out midflight, I become a pancake.

Just got back from an amusement park. One of the coasters there is 305 feet tall, and you hit speeds of around 94 mph. It was raining during the ride and every rain drop feels like a needle lightly poking you in the face. It doesn’t sound that bad, but if you think about it, 10 to 15 rain drops will hit your face every second which makes it hurt quite a lot. If you are flying at 200mph with your face exposed and it starts raining, you’ll be getting bruised by the rain drops.

Here's the thing, the water is always the best choice because to be able to survive the crushing depths and the cold you'd need superhuman durability. So your body would be as hard as steel and your muscles would probably be like steel tension cables
