Once children start using the movable alphabet, we want to inspire them to write more more.

One way to do that is to ask questions like: What is your favorite food? Then start writing it down. Encourage them to fill up the rug with everything they love!!

And don't worry about phonetic spelling vs. accurate spelling. The key here is not the correct spelling. The goal is to help them gain confidence putting sounds together to make words.
