Socks just felt like crawling for a extra bit

From my understanding when Baby Race was being made they completely forgot about socks. I believe this because Baby Race was almost scraped until Joe Brumms wife saw the script.

The makers of Bluey have commented on socks. She's not developmently delayed, but instead everyone goes through a puppy phase after the baby phase. In this phase they act like unruly puppies before they grow into toddlers. Both Bingo, Muffin, and Bluey have gone through this phase before.

In season 1 she's only a year old. We know this because when Socks bites Bluey and Bluey cries to Bandit, Bandit says "Aw mate, well she's only 1!"

It wouldn't surprise me, they have a character that has ADHD.
I'm autistic and I would have loved to have actual character representation in the shows I watched, this show is doing excellent!
Most of the time, characters that would be seen as having autism or ADHD were typecast as the dumbass in every show, they never touched on their mental illnesses, they only made fun of them.

I think it was mentioned that after being a newborn they go through a puppy stage, because if you look around the show there are many small background items that are traditionally used for dogs, such as collars and leashes, so its likely they are used for the little ones just as they are getting mobile and communicating (baby babble) and still have that puppylike dog like behavior, before they move onto the. It could be the equivalent of baby bouncing and rolling to practice and build up the stamina and muscle tone to start walking. As for her doggy walk vs crawl, it could easily be her comfort. My own brother would sit normally with is bum on the floor and knees and legs outward, but for me, I often sat with my knees up which my parents called "Frog" and all through out my childhood I preferred Frog/Squat position.

Plus both Pom Pom and Snickers have walked on all fours rather than crawl. Perhaps its a behavior to dogs who have shorter legs.

I heard somewhere that the creators flat out said they forgot how they want to portray babies and younger characters in this show when they made baby race, but i feel like they could work in an in universe explanation

Anyone also notice that Socks’ striped sock markings are gone from her arms& legs after she begins walking upright?

That seems bizarre considering they literally give Socks her name 🤨

I think that a parallel to socks walking like a dog could be made to toe walking which is what many aristocracy children and or developmentally delayed children do. This is often a habit or condition like thumb sucking. (I AM NOT AN EXPERT THIS IS JUST FROM MY EXPERIENCE AS HAVING AN AUTISTIC BROTHER)

I think it’s just an error made by the creators and animators. Socks (imo) is shown this way to give more perspective on her age since she is very young and they don’t want viewers mixing up her and Muffin’s age. This was probably changed though because it didn’t make much sense as no other dog was like this. Socks was probably also meant to portray what very young dogs in the Bluey universe are like, but they likely overlooked this concept accidentally while Baby Race was in development.

I'm autistic and I so headcannon socks to be the same. Even if it is just a continuity error I really love the idea. Lol apparently when I was a toddler I was basically a feral gremlin that could not be tamed. Legit to the point that my parents had to make a lid on top of my crib just so I wouldn't crawl out, fall on the floor, and run around in the dead of night. Another time I managed to get through two doors jammed shut with butter knives and got outside early one morning, almost getting my mom in trouble with the law (• • ;;) I only started to mellow out as I got older, which really makes me resonate with how socks started out vs how she started to "normalize" a bit as she aged.

The whole autism thing started on tiktok most likely (wouldn’t surprise me since most people get their sources from tiktok heh) but the makers said it’s just a phase everyone goes through after their baby phase of growing up
