When I edit something in the gallery app, the edited photos resolution is reduced. Any solution for that?

This is what I need please: anytime I crop an image in my phone's regular Photo Gallery (NOT Google Photos), I need the original photo to stay...PLUS the cropped one I just made too. I don't want the original to ever delete just because I cropped it. It used to do this automatically. How do I get it back like that pls??!? I desperately need accurate steps for this.

Nope. Revert is ghosted. I can't choose it. I know that when I made the modifications, I always chose to save a copy. I can't find the original to start over. Of course, I was using the latest editing software, still in the beta version. Even though the pictures are there, it can't edit photos already edited by that beta version.
