Southern Sweet Tea

Easy, simple, delicious, refreshing, on a hot summer day or just a refreshing drink. You can make it as sweet or unsweet as you like. So simple, there is not a recipe. Follow my directions to how I make my sweet tea.
I use the following:
3 family size tea bags
3/4 cup granulated sugar
water to boil and fill gallon size tea jug

Add water, tea bags, and sugar to a boiler. Bring to a boil and turn off heat. Let steep 6-10 minutes. Pour into jug of cold water. Enjoy over ice or as is.

My Mama’s sweet tea? For a gallon: Boiled 10 little teabags ( the family size weren’t available then). Then pour over 2 cups of sugar. Stirred to dissolve sugar. Then add the rest of the water. Let it cool. Poured over ice in a glass.

My sister, our friend and I went to Buffalo, New York and Niagara Falls. The hotel we stayed at couldn’t understand what we meant when we asked for sweet tea. My friend went into the kitchen and taught them. They added sweet tea to the menu. This was 2001.

Sweet tea was the way of life for my family, even after we had to move to Michigan when I was a little girl. In the summertime, our friends and neighbors would come to sit on our front porch and have a glass of sweet tea. Thank you so much for the memory.

I love love love sweet tea. I'm from the South. My best friend growing up was from Alabama. Tea is excellent for us - boosts chemotherapy performance and bunch of other stuff. I guzzle it daily but no sugar ever. I drink tea with key lime juice. 😘

I use loose leaf tea and put it in my coffee filter basket. I run a pot of water through my coffee pot just like I was making coffee. I fill my tea pitcher almost to the top with ice and I put one pack of Splenda on top of the ice. Then I pour my brewed tea over the ice and stir. Pour over ice and enjoy.❤❤❤
