Enduring Activity: Updates in Women's Health Online: Cardiovascular Disease
Target Audience
This activity is targeted towards pediatricians, IM/P, and family practitioners.
Statement of Need
Our learners need the knowledge and strategies to assist in recognizing, evaluating and treating common and not so
common problems presenting in a primary care setting, including when it is appropriate to refer.
Objectives
At the conclusion of this offering, the participant will be able to:
1) Discuss gender differences in the prevalence and risk of developing cardiovascular disease and heart failure.
2) Identify the differences in clinical presentation and outcomes based on gender In cardiovascular disease.
3) Describe gender, racial and ethnic differences in heart failure.
4) Review the historical lack of representation of women in cardiovascular trials.
5) Summarize current women's health initiatives that promote awareness and education regarding cardiovascular
disease in women.
