Carrie (1976) is such a superb film. One of my favourites. You felt Carrie's hurt and humiliation, as a viewer. The 2013 version was not awful but was no match, for a story that never needed to be retold. Let alone a fantastic score through out! The chariot scene in 1959 Ben -Hur is purely gripping. You really feel the power and challenge racing through you whilst watching. The remake of Psycho and The Wicker Man, I would rather just forget they existed. As for 'Arthur'. Did they think that they were auditioning for 'The Little and Large Show'? Dudley Moore was cute and loveable, a real fool and Liza Minelli was as down to earth as you could get. The connection of the characters with Hobbs. Such a charming film and still one of my favourites today. Nothing positive to say about the remake and Brand.

Hollywood should have left ALL these movies alone.

The 1959 Ben-Hur was a remake, too!
There was a 1907 silent short film, and made feature-length Ben-Hur in 1925, and starred Ramon Navarro.

The remake of "The Day the Earth Stood Still" was an atrocity. Many people, myself included, believe that the original 1951 film is the best sci-fi movie of all time. Unfortunately, the remake was terrible. The robot in it looked as if it had been drawn on a piece of paper. Yikes! I would hate to see them attempt a remake of "The Creature from the Black Lagoon"; it would likely be just as disappointing.

The remake of "The Day the Earth Stood Still" was such a mistake. I bailed halfway through it.

The original 'Arthur' is my favourite film of all time. I couldn't even imagine watching the remake.

An old joke goes "Why do they make remakes? Because they didn't get it wrong the first time."

The first Ben-Hur was in 1907, first full lenth was in 1925. The Charlton Heston version in 1959 was actully the second remake incuding the first silent film.

The Italian Job is a British classic… forget the Wahlberg nonsense.

Movies Like JAWS, THE WARRIORS, ESCAPE FROM NY and more ...are movies that Hollywood should leave them alone.

The Avengers, and Wild Wild West
Both, because there was not a single drop of charisma between the main characters, as there was in the tv shows, were STINKERS!

Total Recall was the first one I thought of. The remake is just boring and unfun compared to the original. I’m waiting for a remake of Lawrence of Arabia. That’s when I’ll know Hollywood is creatively bankrupt and should be forgotten.

The remake of poltergeist was a joke. The remake of the day the earth stood still boring. Sometimes it is not just the remakes of movies that don’t work but the actors are wrong for the roles.

An excellent commentary. Of course the video only covers 10 movies, but if could I might add “The Taking Of Pelham 123.” Walter Matthau is outstanding in his delivery of sarcastic remarks and Robert Shaw is the perfect villain. Martin Balsam shines as the IRT motorman. The remake while ok does not bring the depth or reality that this trio bring to the story. Anyone familiar with the New York City subway system will connect to the original. The remake with John Travolta and Denzel Washington is Ok, but does not really convey to the viewer the grimy nature of the subway as does the original. It’s a great movie and those who haven’t seen it should definitely add it to their to watch list.

Peter Sellers merged completely with the characters he played. The three characters he played in “Dr. Strangelove” are each memorable.

The worst part of the day the Earth stood still was definitely Will Smith's kid.
