That happened to me 3 times, only because my sense of direction (even with a compass) is very bad and I keep ending up in the end.

Yah the leviathan is just a terrifying encounter.
Although I didn't play the game I played dying light 1 and 2 and I can say that the volatile is the same just hearing their screams send chills down my spine

2. At the back of the aurora

there is more leviathans in subnautica such as dark leviathan which is encountered in subnautica below zero and ghost leviathan and more so it can be even alot scarier but the dark leviathan isn't that scary because there is never dark in his spawn location but he will look creepy if he was in dark or hiding in shadows and ghost leviathan is encountered in dead zone in subnautica
