Professor Adam Sheffer returns to New York Math Circle to give a talk on Geometric Incidences.

Bio: Adam Sheffer completed a Ph.D. in computer science at Tel-Aviv University. He was then a postdoctoral researcher at Caltech's mathematics department. He is currently a mathematics professor at CUNY's Baruch College and the CUNY Graduate Center. He spends a large portion of his time mentoring graduate, undergraduate, and high-school students in research projects.

Title: Geometric Incidences

Abstract: In this talk, we will explore an active research front of mathematics. World-leading mathematicians have been struggling with this research front, making slow progress. At the same time, hardly any mathematical background is required for understanding it, since it is about intersection points of lines and circles.
