INSTRUCTIONS:
Blood Drip Candles
MATERIALS
White candle
Red candle
Kitchen Lighter
STEPS
Cover your surface.
Hold the red candle over the white candle. Using the kitchen lighter, melt the red candle little by little. Hold it over the edges of the white candle to create a blood drip effect. Make the effect as intense or light as possible. Make sure to hold the flame as far from your hand as possible to avoid burning it.
Ice Hands
MATERIALS
Latex Free Gloves
STEPS
Take the glove and fill it with water, then tie the glove.
Place the glove in the freezer. Freeze overnight.
Serve in your potion of choice. (Tip: make sure that the drink is pre-chilled so that the frozen hand can keep it’s form for as long as possible.)
Fake Melting Candles
MATERIALS
Toilet paper (or paper towel) rolls
Hot glue
Spray paint
Battery operated tea lights
STEPS
Make sure all the paper is removed from the toilet paper roll. (Tip: If you don’t collect your toilet paper rolls, you can manually push the cardboard out of the roll.)
Drip hot glue along the top rim of the toilet paper roll to make it look like melted candle wax.
Let the hot glue sit to cool and spray paint it your color of choice, we chose white.
Take the tea light and add a little bit of hot glue on the side of it, place the tea light inside of the toilet paper roll and press it against the inside of roll.
Turn the tea light on and enjoy!
Optional: Make the tea lights look as though they’re floating by hanging them with fishing line.
Glowing Eyes
MATERIALS
2 Tap lights
Permanent markers (3 different colors)
STEPS
Draw an iris on the tap light, then draw the pupil, and lastly add little veins around the edges of the eye.
Cheesecloth Ghost
MATERIALS
Cheesecloth
Fabric stiffener
Balloon
Popsicle sticks (or wires)
Tape
2 Mason jars (or a 2 liter soda bottle)
STEPS
Create your ghost shape. We stacked two mason jars, taped a balloon to the top, and taped hands made of popsicle sticks to the sides.
Cover the ghost with three layers of cheesecloth and spray all sides with undiluted fabric stiffener.
Let it dry completely, this may take up to 24 hours.
When it’s completely dry, the figure will be completely stiffened, allowing it to stand on it’s own.
Optional: Decorate the ghost. Make it look as though it’s floating by hanging it with fishing line.
Hidden Glowing Eyes
MATERIALS
Toilet paper roll
Box cutter (or scissors)
Marker
Glow stick
STEPS
Make sure all the paper is removed from the toilet paper roll. (Tip: If you don’t collect your toilet paper rolls, you can manually push the cardboard out of the roll.)
Draw a pair of spooky eyes onto the toilet paper roll.
Cut out the shape of the eyes and place a glow stick into the toilet paper roll to make the eyes light up.
Hide the eyes in different places like bushes or dark corners for a spooky effect.
Spooky Candy Bowl
MATERIALS
Plastic candy bowl
Permanent marker
Box cutter
Lighter
Sanding block
Black gloves
Paper
Tape
Lots of candy
STEPS
Flip the candy bowl upside down and draw a circle (large enough to fit your hand through) on the top.
Take the box cutter and heat the blade with the lighter, this will allow the box cutter to cut through the plastic without cracking it. Cut out the circle. (You may need to re-heat the blade a few times as you cut it.)
Sand the edges of the circle until smooth.
Flip the bowl back over and cover the open circle with a piece of paper and tape it down. Fill the bowl with candy.
When it’s time for trick-or-treaters, put on some black gloves and push your hand through the paper. Spook away!
