Such a precise explanation! Just how I want to learn a topic with enthusiasm. Thank you Sir! I was working with echelon and row reduced echelon form the whole time, but when I came across Gauss and Gauss-Jordan elimination I couldn't comprehend what it really meant. You explained Gauss Jordan elimination, or tri-diagonalization of a matrix very nicely.

GJ elimination is how most computer programs reduce a set of linear equations.

Once you do things this way, you will never go back to doing substitution again ... well, except for 2x2 matrices. Then, the Cramer rule is probably faster.

its just amazing on how people use the Gauss-Jordan Elimination. when your dealing with this problem it feels like your in a maze the only way out is to explore each corner until you find the correct one.
