Baugnez 44 Historical Center - Last look at the museum before permanently closing.

The Historical center close to Malmedy is one of the more interesting ones in the area, mainly of the horrific historical Malmedy "incident" ( which has to be censored because you can't talk about history that's sensitive) that happened only 200 meters from the Museum.

The museum had great lighted exhibitions, with information in multiple languages, nothing is overly dark like a lot of modern museums have to be today and you will see really beautiful set up dioramas.

Big con of this museum is that it's only open for 2 days from Saturday and Sunday and the theme park experience set ups, with a lot of sound effects and nonsense, especially the one of the Malmedy "incident, I have some feelings on.

The museum also displayed a lot of fake equipment, and I mean really obvious reproduced stuff, it doesn't bother me all that much, but I known that some of you in the comments can't stand re-pro stuff.

But I think that some of the cons and limited opening time would eventually lead to it's eventually closing.

I was fortunate to visit this museum in May 2010 and it had very few visitors when I was there. The lifesize dioramas really captured a possible moment back in 44 and even the reproductions demonstrated what the soldier's equipment was like. I told my German friends who live near Aachen about it, but they didn't seem interested and really had not much of an idea about the Battle of the Bulge. They originally thought I was going down there to visit the Hohe Fenn...ie. Elsenborn Ridge/Skyline Drive. I toured many of the Bulge sites, but I really regret I didn't go to the Hürtgenwald which is very close to Aachen, but it didn't occur to me then and family wasn't really into battlefields.

It's the perfect stormy day to take a stroll through a museum. Thanks.

Great video, thank you for taking the time and effort to put it all together. Sad that the locals had very little idea about what happened, schools that don't teach history in Germany, US, or anywhere are only allowing history to repeat itself. The reproductions are necessary for museums since most material of any kind breaks down over time.

I assume we get informed what happened to the exibits in the museum. I know that all the exibits of the victory museum got scatterded all over the place. Too bad, Everytime i was in Baugnez, the museum was closed.

I am confused. Is the museum already closed? If yes why? Where are the exhibits now? Do you recommend a other museum near the german/belgian border? I heard there is a museum called plateau 44

Thank you for posting this video, it's very sad this museum is closing, or closed already, I'm going to miss it on my next trip to Belgium.
Do you know what is going to happen to all the objects, equipment, weapons, etc ? Are they going or planning to merge with another museum?
Regards from Alberta, Canada.

Leather and cloth will last forever in a controlled environment. Which I expect this museum has.

I still find this museum to be to dark, it's like everything is set in a nighttime setting and it's so unpleasant, why are museum allergic to natural light? Or just light in general.
