For a while, #ShaneWarne was the most famous cricketer on the planet - then suffered a fall from grace that saw him banned, divorced, dumped by sponsors - only to fight back and become one of the greatest sportsmen, in any code, of all time.

For a guy who grew up thinking only of Australian Rules football, it's almost an accident that Shane Warne became the greatest cricketer of a generation, and one of the greats of all time. Mastering the difficult art of spin bowling after being kicked out of football for not being a good enough player proved a pivotal choice for 19 year old Shane - declared unfit and fat, he transformed himself.

When success came, so did fame and adulation, money and prestige but a betting scandal, drugs scandal, and affairs that cost him his marriage, threatened his career. From the lows of a 12 month ban he rebuilt his cricket, his career, and his reputation as one of the most ferocious competitors on the planet, admired and revered by millions. #Warnie #Cricket

Starring Shane Warne, Lord Ian Botham, Sachin Tendulkar, Allan Border, Mark Taylor, Isa Guha, Ian Chappell, Ed Sheeran.

2 years after he retired he won the IPL as captain with literally kids & outcasts. The fact that RR haven't been able to win the tournament since then shows what a colossal effort that was. One of the best captains to have never captained their country.

Surreal that he’s passed away. To an athlete dying young. Rest In Peace to one of the greatest cricketers of all time.

I must admit back in those days when we played cricket in the 90s invariably just about everyone I knew at least tried his bowling action once. Such was his popularity

Shane Warne, the enigma. Always loved him. Whether he played for Australia, for for RR (I supported RR just because of him as a captain)!!! Oh his captainship led to RR winning IPL..that was how good he was...a small budget team...energising everyone..that was good he was..
Big love Shane...from India.

As a South African 🇿🇦 I can honestly say SHANE WARNE is by far the greatest Australian cricketer of all time.
I don’t think there’s any single Aussie cricketer who’s helped Australia win matches like that gent.

Look the Aussies were blessed with so many gifted cricketers in his era from the WAUGH brothers to Hayden, Langer, Gilchrist, Healy, Lee, Ponting, McGrath, Taylor and many more...man you name them all, no single Aussie player took them out of clutch matches like Warnie did.
The guy kept you on the edge of your seat with every single ball he bowled coz honestly, nobody knew what magic he was gonna spin with his next ball.

TRULY...HE IS ONE IF NOT THE GREATEST TO EVER DO IT🙌🏿✌🏿 🇿🇦

I remember watching cricket in late 90s and early 2000s watching warne bowl. Coming from samoan background where my folks had no clue about cricket, watching warne made me get into cricket. One of my favourties, also had the opportunity to work with his former coach who died few years aho

Am an indian but my dad is a huge huge fan of the aussie team lead by Steve Waugh. Shane warne was his favourite bowler, he used to tell me Shane Warne is someone who could turn the ball even on a pitch made of glass. Got lucky to have met him in Chennai when I was only 7 when they toured India.

What makes him the greatest cricketer of his generation is that he revived a very important part of the game ie spin bowling especially leg spin. His innovation of a number of new deliveries that was unheard of. His contributions to the game of cricket is enormous. His passion, aggression, leadership, mentorship, innovation has been remarkable. I really doubt anyone player of his era has so much of influence on the game with skill that had very little assistance from the setup he grew up. I think while most of the other players of his time received help from the system to reach those heights, Shane managed to excel them on his own. That’s the greatest of this player.

The thing about Warne is that you thought that something was going to happen with every ball he bowled, you cannot say that about alot of spin bowlers, he was the main attraction and he had got into the heads of alot international batsmen before they faced a ball, thats what made him the G.O.A.T
