Nice to find old books like the Delta.. They don't tell idiots to keep fingers away from saw blades.. Refreshing from a time people didn't need warning labels on boxes of soap powder.. Cheers from Louisiana .. Mike

Enjoy these if the pace is quick enough and as you did, give a little history/information behind the tools. Thanks for sharing.

When I was 22 I got into a bad-way, had to move, had to turn my back on modern carpentry and take a job financed by a banker doing custom log cabins...
“Financed by a banker means none of us made hardly shit”
As a result of my ignorance with raw logs my mainstay job was shaping and debarking.
The drawknife I was loaned was a crown....
I’m glad I clicked this video.
My heart filled with pride seeing that thing again after all this time.
I was so bad-ass when I was 22 that I could wrap my legs around a log, hang upside down and peel....I was really, truly something!

Now-days I can hurt myself bending over to pick up a pencil too fast. 🙄

I can say, and say from experience that the crown drawknife is a tool no one could say anything bad about.
I remember being very proud to tote mine around....till I had to give it back to the actual seasoned timber

Anyways, if you take the paint off that saw I’m willing to bet it will be the most valuable score...considering it’s not too bad to bring back to life.
The “hood ornament” not being snapped off is a VERY good sign that it’s worth the strip.
D-12 maybe ?...I’m thinking it’s the one that tore up their machines as a result of the steel being so hard, and tilting the press wheels so extreme.
“This could be determined with a pair of calipers, gaging the thickness of the tooth side, to that of the back....
The back should be MUCH
😏 and if backsaws are hard to find in your area that probably means that you are from the south. 😁
Just like me.

“I Don’t know what in the world our men of yesteryear had against quality backsaws!!”

How amazing to start off your video with the will burt versa vice. I just did a video not too long ago dragging a will burt coal burner out of a basement. Cool lil vise

Nice grabs Vince. I'm pretty sure that handle is a D-100 (sold a few, handles go for a good amount on eBay). I think you're right on... plate doesn't look like it matches the handle. Those draw knives are in better shape than I usually find around here!
