GM 8L45/90 delayed engagement after setting for an extended period due to converter drain back. As a result of the issue GM upgraded the transmission stator support and case cover to remedy the problem. If encountered refer to TSB 16-NA-014 for procedure and part numbers.

I have a 2016 GMC Yukon same transmission 8L90 and it slips between the first and second gear. When I’m accelerating and stopping what might this be? 125k miles on it.

These 8 and 10 speed trannys are too complex. Time to go EV.
