Get the Mast checked (they're usually OK ). New 1x19 standing Rigging won't break the Bank, check Rigging plates on the hull, New Running Rigging, and keep an eye open for good secondhand Sails (usually really cheap for what you get. Don't get a Rubbish Anchor (you won't need a massive expensive one)and a 100ft of 6mm chain should be plenty giving you up to 5 times scope in 20ft of water for emergencies if you can't dry out on Beach or up Estuaries. What's the motor ? If you go to Boat Jumbles, you should be able to pick up what you need cheap, and for coastal work, A Tablet with GPS and Navionics local Xharts should be fine. apart from needed lights you can get away with a speed and depth transducer, but mast top wind indicator plus winfpd instruments will help you learn, as will wind telltales on your foresail. Igor Stropnik has just done the best introduction to Sailing video I've ever seen, better than the RYA Course and it's free on YouTube! Still worth getting the RYA courses done to get the bits of paper I've had Grandfathered in (bloody EU), and to get a minor formality Yachtmaster Offshore, all .I need now is to properly log a Transatlantic Crossing on my next Boat. I was going to get it on my last Boat, but Wreckers attacked me in New York Harbour of all places, and I lost the boat and had to Fly Back. Best of Luck, and I'll try to pop back with a link to Igor's Outstanding introduction to Sailing. I'd been Sailing a Mirror Dinghy dad built (only one Sail) for a few years before I even heard of Wind Telltales . lol. 👍

Beware the steel swarf from cutting off the lock! Within a few days you will have rust stains on your deck which are difficult to remove. Try Y10!

Can you Confirm what boat it is, it looks very familiar, and if it's what .inthink it is, it's a little Belter and a great find for the price . If not after a bigger boat soon, Keep it to learn on for a couple of years and it will take you to grat places up Estuaries that Dry Out. a Bilge keel 24ft yes ? 🤔👍

So clean her right up and throw it on the market for 1800 quid then find a bigger boat with the same story. 28' should see a bit more comfort, think I'll sub up and see what ya get up to either way Reuben.
