This demo video from Automation Anywhere emphasizes on the prowess of our Enterprise RPA solution in automating the process of filling out an excel for the inventory software. Before automating this process, an agent would have to manually copy hundreds of fields from a text document or csv file and paste them individually in the excel sheet.
The steps for creating a bot to automate this process involves:
- Open the graphical interface for the Workbench.
- Enter the commands to open an excel spreadsheet and go to the cell from which the agent wishes to start entering the data.
- Enter the command to read from the desired text/csv file, including the paraments for delimiters, leading and trailing spaces etc.
- Enter the commands to loop through the task of copying each word from the text file and pasting them in the appropriate cell in the excel sheet.
- Enter the command to save and close the excel spreadsheet.

In as simple as 5 steps, the agent is now able to build and run his bot to automate his mundane task copy-pasting information. A task which would have taken multiple man hours to complete now takes few machine minutes leaving the agent with more time to work on creative and productive tasks.

Good video but not very realistic. Excel already has great CSV file import features. Maybe choose a more complex example next time

Yeah this is misleading. You are saying in the beginning of the video that each file comes in a non-standard format. The text format that you automated is very well structured with the 'txt' filetype and the delimiter '|' spacing each value.
If every hardware store update comes in that format then this is a super easy thing to automate. But that's exactly the problem, things are rarely this structured. This is pretty misleading, because this automation will break if the text file has any issue or any other file type is used, like a pdf, word document, excel, etc.. This only works for one very specific and well structured data source. Not saying that you guys can't automate it for other data sources, but it would be so much more complicated than this to do so.

This is the suckiest tool for automating browser based scenarios in Chrome.
