Went into Season 3 ready to edit Matthew and Diana came out needing to do this for Gallowglass!

Considering we didn't get flashbacks or a vast amount of material of all that Gallowglass did for years I felt you could really feel what Steven Cree wished, Gallowglass' sacrificing, free and unconditional love for an incredible woman.

That he would spend hundreds of years waiting to spend decades in the shadows of a woman he knew could never be his. Bless Gallowglass.

Gallowglass could've tried to steal Diana for himself if he wanted to since he has been with her since she was a baby and watched her grow up, but he didn't. He could have been selfish or greedy but he didn't. He could have made a move on her, he had an earlier start than Matthew, but he didn't. He made sure Diana met Matthew. And he didn't hold any grudges or ill feelings (for not getting the woman he loved) towards Matthew even though he is closer and knows Diana better than him. He remained a good guy 'til the end, never sabotaged Diana or Matthew. That takes a lot more than just self control. That takes a good man, a truly good man, to be able to resist such urge. Admirable, truly. I don't think many of us would be able to do what he did had we faced the same circumstances as him. My guy is surely the embodiment of perfect in this day and age, anyone would be lucky to have someone as great as him. I'm head over heels for him, and he's fictional. 💔

In conclusion: I want a Gallowglass spin-off where he finds someone great for him, I want to see him happy too. A wholesome heartwarming story for a wholesome character.

I love that they didn't go too far with the tragedy/sadness of his character, because it's a pretty epic unrequited love, I'll be honest. Spending centuries waiting for this woman you met, befriended, and was astonished by, then acting as her secret guardian for her entire life until she meets her soulmate, who is a close friend/family. They could have gone really heavy with the angst there, but I'm so glad they really kept the LOVE at the heart of it, the comradery and familial bond they share. _Still hurts like hell when you fall for your best friend's girl, _ The guilt of envying your beloved friend, the feeling of foolishness at knowing she was never going to be yours to begin with, all of that just overcomplicates the emotion of heartbreak even more.

Gallowglass's story is the perfect setup for a spin-off series, and I really hope they utilize that. Because while Matthew is a wonderful, dark, reformed badboy, Byronic, romantic hero, (and perfect Yin to Diana's Yang, ) *Gallowglass is the guy anyone would be LUCKY to have fall in love with them.* Caring, badass, smart, understanding, compassionate, competent, serious but with a great sense of humor, sentimental, protective but not territorial... oh my god he's just perfect! He is way more my type of romantic hero, personally, and I hope he has a wonderful epic love story too, he deserves it!!

Of course it was heartbreaking. The bond they shared was developed centuries in the making. He was her guardian angel and only second to Mathew was the best character in this series.

How could you not love a teddy bear like Gallowglass? The character as he’s written in the book is even better, he’s jovial and warm with Diana, while being protective and scary for outsiders. I was sad his character wasn’t explored more. I wish he got a follow up instead of Marcus, whom I also liked a lot, just not as much as Gallowglass.

This absolutely broke my heart to watch. I cried so much when I saw this the first time, and I still cry. His character was so well written here (I've never read the books). They didn't push the heavy agenda of him being in love with her. They didn't go to hard with it. They didn't throw him a pity party. They actually made you feel something. They made you feel the utter heartbreak that he was experiencing. You shared the pain with him. And what's so great is that he did so much without expecting anything in return. He loved her and wanted her to be happy, even though it wasn't with him. And with him being charged by Phillipe to watch over her, he was given the power to change the course of events. He instead chose to do the right thing. And that makes you love him even more, but also make you hurt for him more. He's a truly admirable character. The kind of friend we all wish we had. Selfless in every way. He always placed Diana's happiness over his own. And what I find better? I believe Matthew knew of Gallowglass' love for Diana. And instead of turning against him for it, he showed silent understanding. Beautifully done
