The entire can is an ambiguous quantity. It can be any number of cups.

For the first question, "the entire can" is not well defined as the container. To me, that is grey area. Is this kind of ambiguity common in GMAT?

You used 500 as the original value in the first question, and now I'm confused. I mean, the Percent change formula should've been used separately for both items, no? how come 500, which is actually the new value, be the original value?
