Homemade Peppermint Patties....Because Mint Chocolate is the Best!

Good afternoon my fellow Idiots! Today I am making a homemade version of the peppermint patty. Why? Well because 1) Why not? and 2) Mint Chocolate is the greatest flavour combination ever made. Mint Chocolate is like Jerry Seinfeld & Larry David...or Larry Page and Sergey Brin...the greatest partnership to ever exist! Have you figured out yet that I like mint chocolate? Seriously though, these things are super easy to make albeit it's not super practical to make them because you can simply buy a damn good peppermint patty from the store. That being said though, it is fun to try making these at home so you should definitely try it!

Peppermint Patty Ingredients:
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 3/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1 1/2 tsp peppermint extract

Chocolate Layer Ingredients:
- 3 cups semi sweet chocolate chips
- 2 tsp shortening

I love peppermint patties🥰. My husbands weird and doesn't like chocolate and mint so I never buy these. BUT IM GONNA MAKE THEM! OH for sharing, have to try, you make it look so easy.🤩

You can buy, yes. However, if make w/family creating memories. Also, w/ current times I'm thinking way cheaper to make then nuy-what w/cost of factory, employees, insurance, higher cost to cover ig product doesn't sell, shipping, advertising, etc. So dep6on what's important too you "price" can vary

I used to work for Hershey's we made the peppermint patties. They closed our plant and sent it to Mexico.
That's pretty much the recipe for them.

So thats the secret for the choc chips. 2 tsp of fat lard or butter. Or does butter not count?

coconut oil, not shortening. But great otherwise!

Did you ever get to experiment with butter or lard to substitute shortening for the chocolate coating?

Would you experiment or recommend Spearmint or Wintergreen over Peppermint patties?
