It's so cool that even in a hyper-industrialized developed consumer economy like China this traditional art is still being practiced and bought from local artisans. It's always great to see cultures keeping their unique traditions and art alive, hopefully they value it enough to prevent it from getting replaced by cheap lower quality mass-produced equivalents like so many other things have been in our society and theirs over the last 40 years.

Some of my ancestors was said to have use Mermaids' bone as material for their weapon (Keris). These Mermaids was said to inhibit the Sea's surrounding my region and we were famous as the people of the sea since our ancestors used to trade by the sea a lot long ago between the neighbouring kingdoms and far away lands. You see, during the old days, it was said that these creatures are sometimes accidently caught by a fisherman... We have many islands as well in our region... Unbelievable right but its true... I've seen many weird things some hundreds/centuries old Kerises that was handed down from warriors to their descendents did like standing up by on its own/floating in a wooden and glass cabinet. Seems like a bullshit but its not... Some people like to collect these weird things too as a hobby and display them to their guests.
