June 2, 1987 the Triple-A Denver Zephyrs hosted the Buffalo Bisons at Mile High Stadium in front of 1,404 fans. In the bottom of the 7th, Bisons pitcher Mike Murphy hung a 2-2 slider that Meyer hit an amazing 582 feet into the upper deck of Mile High Stadium, a measured record that still stands throughout professional baseball in the United States.

I’m honestly really impressed with the quality of this broadcast, considering it’s a AAA game from the 80’s

I was at this game. That ball was CRUSHED, and they even replaced the seats it hit with green ones, to commemorate how far the guy hit it. My dad and I were incredulous - could not believe some guy hit the ball that far into the upper deck.

Give the announcer props for the Bob Uecker joke

Legend has it that the ball is still flying. Never to touch the face of the earth again

Is anyone else just amazed at how that is humanly possible?

Dude, the camera man was lost😂
That ball landed in the upper row of the upper deck! 578 feet!
Joey Meyer hit another mammoth homer for Aguilas in the Dominican winter league. It cleared the 415 ft center field wall and was measured at 565 feet! Joey could hit for average and power. He had an amazing ability not to strike out! He was also about 295 pounds during his playing days!

Them empty stadiums look awfully familiar to these days 👀

I’m more impressed with the camera quality considering it’s a mid 1980s minor league game. This looks better than the 1987 World Series

This is the furthest home run ever hit in professional baseball.

I was at that game. John Jaha had one to the upper deck a few years after that.

Weight equals leverage and power with a good swing, Joey Meyer did hit a walk off blast against Roger Clemens in his pro career which was short
