Sundown by Boards Of Canada, taken from the album Tomorrow's Harvest.

Photography comes from Niki Feijen. These images were taken in the abandoned city of Pripyat, Ukraine. This city exists within the exclusion zone surrounding Chernobyl nuclear power plant, and has been uninhabited for over 25 years. The city was evacuated on 27th April 1986 following the infamous Chernobyl nuclear disaster. The residents of Pripyat were advised that the evacuation was a temporary measure, many of the residents left their belongings behind. However, due to the severity of the radiation levels in the city, the residents would never return. To this day, Pripyat remains a desolate and bleak landscape.

Fitting imagery. Tomorrow's harvest seems to have the aesthetic of a society eradicated by nuclear disaster.

This song brings up the feeling of being cold/tired while making your way back to base-camp under a beautiful fading-sunset and then the last bit of twilight that shines before night overtakes the entire sky in Northern California.  There is something primitive about it...beyond what words can say.

This collection of sound is so disparate. Like a cold winter day with a warm sun or even a sunrise on Pluto. Starts with a warm coziness, however still so distant and cold.

Thanks for making me discover Niki Feijen! I'm really digging his works so far. The combination of this particular BOC piece and those magnificent images conjures up something rather ineffable.

Imagine standing on the surface of a cheeseburger, billions of miles away from fries. I want to get some ketchup while I prepare to hunt for those fries.

Caged real is not the real of "Nothing is Real." Trying not to pigeonhole all the things I feel. Trying not to define things too soon. And Everything You Do is a Balloon. The movement in the balloon's border is what brings true meetings to order. Well met, true meeting. Well played, BOC feeling.

If you like this, check out the work of Mark Isham. BoC acknowledged his influence on this album... I definitely hear it in this track in particular.

Argh. Boards of Canda gives me the creeps. I always feel unsettled after listening to BoC. Invades my thoughts and feelings, and leaves me that little bit more unsure of the world afterwards but stronger as a result.

Sounds like pseudo-intellectual crap :-p But that's what BoC does to me. Always a barbed pleasure listening to tracks like this by BoC.
