✅The Ultimate Home Building Checklist✅

Before concrete is poured on walkways or driveways, ask your builder about locations that could benefit from laying a piece of conduit downs so you can easily run wiring or cable without having to dig a trench under the concrete at a later date.

Minimum 18” below finished grade is code for most residential applications using sch40… but if you’re unsure, be sure to check with your inspector before installation so you don’t have to do it twice 😅 much cheaper to ask.

Definitely from the house to the back yard shed!!! Or to a tree for decorating with lights.

Who doesn't love a kiss from an electrician?

It would also be really nice to have it for low voltage landscape lighting, I did it once and it’s a pain to sledge hammer a metal conduit under a walkway to create a hole to pull wire in

Your irrigation tech will love you as well. 4" sleeves under walkways and driveways is perfect, just remember where they are so they can be found again when you need them.

Pro tip make sure if they’re unused plug them and mark them so they don’t have crap in them when it’s time to run it and you can find it easier

I always do 2 pvc conduits from the basement to the attic. This way if you want to add circuits on the 2nd floor you can snake a homerun from the basement to the attic and then drop wires down walls for switches or outlets and you can also run eathernet wires in the 2nd co dust if you want to hardwire devices

I mean you’re not wrong at all. This is a must if you want to take pride in what you do

I remember being at a HD where I met a fellow trying to make sense of an irrigation system for his planned rose garden in the back of his lot. Upon finding that he planned to install a half-inch water line, I implored him to install a 3/4" line instead so he'll have additional water capacity for other future needs without needing to retrench and/or damage walkways or slabs for another line. The difference in cost was less than $20.

Under/through the foundation but it's important to "cap" the ends so critters don't have access.

What good is a ten inch stick of conduit? Hahahaha You must have meant a ten foot stick. 😂

Basement to attic for future solar arrays on the roof!

Also please put tape on the ends also so that dirt or water does not go in the pvc. It will make it harder to pull wire if any of those things get in them.

I'm going to do this for the sole purpose of getting to first base with my electrician.

Anything more than a 1 story house I would put a raceway to to all floors.

The backyard "She-shed" or "He-shed"...or future treehouse!

Hopefully you have a good kissing electrician. You can use thinner walled conduit, DBII in canada, but come out of the ground with rigid conduit. As well its a good idea to sleeve the conduit where it comes out of the ground for mechanical protection. In rural areas I run conduit from the septic holding tank to the controller for the float switches.

Might want to add some for irrigation as well

If the garage is detached, run two conduits between house and garage!

And to detached units. Should be standard procedure.
