A good way that I remembered my order of draw was
Y- You (Yellow / Cultures )
L- Like ( Lt. Blue / Sodium Citrate)
R- Really (Red / Gels )
G- Good ( Lt.Green Lithium Heprin or drk. green Sodium Heprin )
L- Looking ( Lavender / EDTA)
G- Guys (Grey / Sodium Floride or Oxalate)

-Yellow, Grenn, Lavender and grey tubes are inverted 8-10 time
-Lt. Blue is inverted 3-4 and needs to be full fill draw
-serums and gels are inverted 5 times.

Hope this helped a few! Good Luck on your exams.

When I took my NHA test this was the order of draw. When you work in Labs this order varies depending on the primary specimen collection goal.

What about heparin tubes? Green tubes are after red/gold/tiger tops. Its light green first, then dark green. You also don't use the lithium heparin if someone is taking a lithium prescription

Why wasnt dark green included in this order?

I passed the exam but just wanted to come back and thank you for making this video. At my job we have some different tubes but it's the same for the most part

Thank you so much for posting. I've already taken and passed the exam but your explanation is great and I'll be reviewing as I apply for jobs.

Can you explain the difference between the blood draw order between Venipuncture vs capillary fill? I missed one because It said Red does not go before lavender.

Hi Ma'am, I would like to ask if what is the appropriate tube for PLATELET AGGREGATION TEST?
I was confused because there are a lot of info's on the internet and I don't know if those answers are the correct ones.

Will the NHA ask you for a high school diploma?
