—PEDALBOARD BUILD VIDEO (USING ROCKCASE)—

In this video I wanted to check out how the Harley Benton Power Attenuator would compare to the Two Notes Torpedo Captor using it as a loadbox! I has actually really surprised how decent it is to be used as a loadbox! The Captor still wins for dynamics and fatter/more cutting tones. But if just want to do the loadbox IR thing only some times or even more often but don't want to spend the money the Harley Benton still is a great unit! Just know that you'll need to get some IR's or Torpedo Wall Of Sound 3 or any cabinet simulation.

Great comparison. It was exactly what I was looking for. To me the Torpedo has a flatter frequency response with a much better low end and clearer mids and top end. The Benton sounds harsh in comparison and a tad more muddy, but the difference is slight and given the price range it is hard to say the Benton isn't a good bet. In the end I say the Torpedo wins because of it's extra features and better tone.

I've the new version of the Harley Benton PA-100. For attenuation this unit is more versatile. You can dail in any attenuation level you want. It does the job for bringing the volume down. For recording I'm not sure yet....I've a Marshall JMP and they can be harsh as you know and the Captor sound more harsh to me but also more open. The Harley Benton sounds more compressed. It's the nature of the beast of the JMP's. I want the best possible line out signal into my DAW. The PA-100 does the job but I have the feeling that the Captor or the Suhr Reactive load could be a better choice... What's you opinion? Thanks!

Hi Max thanks for this very good video ! I just want to know if you used the cabinet simulation of the HB or if you used torpedo IR’s for both. Thanks.

Hi im looking simply to attenuate to bedroom levels or near to. I have a 15w amp thats still to loud. Would the 20db do the job on the captor?
Also thinking about a 50w archon if i can get a good attenuated and obviously quieter sound.
Thanks for your help

I think they both sound good. the Two Notes gives you more for the money. If you don't need IRs the other one is fine.

Can the HB be used without a speaker connected (as a dummy load) and still send a line out signal for recording?

Great video and overall I dig your channel but I have a question just to make sure I understood it right. Can I plug my amp output into for expample this Harley Benton so it will act like a cab and won't fry up my tube amp and then connect it into my audio interface and use cab sim?

Hi, thanx for the video! I Have a question: the pot "out level" is only for the level of the DI or for the attenuator too? I wish to use it with a plexi..

Hello thank you very much for this review it helped me to chose my futur loadbox
Can you confirm that you can use the Harley Benton without plug a cabinet ? (I don't want to kill my tube amp xD)
This is the way I want to use it : Guitar -> Amp -> Harley Benton -> Audio Interface (cubase) with cab simulation

I would choose the captor x loadbox with inbuilt IR-loader, but unfortunately I have to choose between 8 and 16 ohm versions. The Harley benton is way more cheaper and can handle 3 types of speaker impedance, so I could take the HB and get additionally the two notes captor m floor pedal => then I would have a superior setup but half the price and more flexible ?
