Govt to BAN End-to-End Encryption!

This week a bill was introduced called the “lawful access to encrypted data act.” It would give the government access to your most private communication, and put backdoors in your devices and apps.
Companies must be able to decrypted all data upon request, and if a company’s system doesn’t allow for this decryption, they can be required to redesign their system.

End-to-end encryption enables us to have private, secure communications in an increasingly insecure world. It protects human rights workers, journalists, activists, citizens from hostile governments, governments from hostile foreign agents, domestic abuse sufferers: All levels of society rely on private communications.

But Attorney General Bill Barr says the government should have access to everything. He said “Companies should not deliberately design their systems to preclude any form of access to content.”

The idea that government “can’t catch the bad guys” unless they break our end-to-end-encryption is false.
As Apple said: "Law enforcement today has access to more data -- data which they can use to prevent terrorist attacks, solve crimes and help bring perpetrators to justice -- than ever before in the history of our world. ... We believe it would be wrong to weaken security for hundreds of millions of law-abiding customers so that it will also be weaker for the very few who pose a threat."

Officials like to say surveillance is for the “good of the nation”, but they mean the nation state, ie it helps the people in power keep their power. They don’t mean for the good of the citizens. In fact, weakening the privacy of every citizen makes us all much worse off.

Naomi only confirms the obvious. She is the absolute Queen. The day she exits YouTube, the app is going bye bye fron my phone.

And I'm over here thinking that hackers might start hacking these law makers and dumping their shady stuff online for everyone to see.

More importantly, what can we do about it?

Deteriorating trust between the rulers and the ruled is very worrying. Freedom is easily lost and hard to gain. Thank you Naomi for being a voice for liberty! ❤️

Access was already there. They’ve just cut out steps to legally survey your life

There is almost nothing I agree with far leftists on these days. This might be the only one thing. Especially when Lindsay Graham has his fingers in this bill.

The government and politicians need to understand internet privacy and as an IT student I believe this is unacceptable behavior. Great video btw.

take up running Linux. the FOSS version of PGP ( GnuPG ) is included. remember: PGP/GPG provides Authentication, Integrity, and Security -- not just security. Linux/MINT ( LMDE/4 ) -- is a good place to start. Encryption is useless if the attacker is living in your software...

If our legislators deny us privacy it would be our absolute DUTY to hack their privacy and expose all their nasty little secrets for all to see.

I see all these continued attacks on privacy as a death rattle for governments.

Notice how Edward Snowden never talks about UFOS.

in the end they will only hurt legitimate uses of encryption, any criminal needing privacy can still use their own encryption and use it on any platform

So much for" commercial in confidence" protections.. These "open for business" govts are not making coherent policy

Thank you for the heads up. I just contacted my US Senators to request that they oppose this proposed legislation.
