This is a simple product unboxing/review/test of the Yongnuo RF-603 N3 2.4GHz Wireless Flash Trigger/Wireless Shutter Release Transceiver Kit. This is the Nikon version they do make them for Canon.

*****Update*****
I just got a set of the Yongnuo RF-603 N1 that is for the Nikon pro line up to see if the transceiver where the same and work as only flash triggers for additional flashes and yes they are the same. So if you are looking for ONLY the flash trigger part the N1 version will work as well. (all of the Yongnuo RF-603 will work the on what ever camera you need them to the only difference in the version is the cable for the Wireless Shutter Release) I also tested the flash trigger with my old D70 and it works perfectly as well it even works at 500/sec sync speed that it is capable of.

I own 3 sets (so 6 of them) and they are still working perfectly no complaints. As for how rugged they are I'm not the eases person on gear (I throw the triggers around a lot because I'm always on the run when I'm shooting) they are holding up really well so far with no big signs of wear.

Thanks. I'm really new at photography and this was a big help. I actually wasn't sure what to buy or how wireless flash even worked.

Yes you can put a flash on the transmitter attached to the camera.

N2 or N3 differ in remote shutter compability, not for the flash firing itself. Every model will fire a flash. Only they won't work as a remote shutter release for every camera

Yes it dose as a flash trigger not as a wireless shutter release. They do not have one that I have seen for the D70 that dose both

They work on my D600 D800 and D7000, I do not have a D7100 so I cannot verify that 100% for sure but I am sure that it will work as a trigger just fine.

According to the manual 200 of the second is the fastest sync speed for these triggers, though I have successfully shot up to 250 of a second (this is hit or miss). They do not have high-speed sync so I would not push it any further than that.

I have been out of town for ever so again forgive me for the delay. No the Yongnuo RF603
has no "lockable" parts to it on top or bottom I personally use "Manfrotto 026 Swivel Lite-Tite Umbrella Adapter" with the "Stroboframe Bracket Shoe Mount" witch locks to the bottom on the RF603's hot shoe. I have had it fall a few times from up to 10 ft and it has never come off. I hope this helps you can find those items on Amazon or a local shop.

@CAJames7 I just did a little bit of research for you and from what I can see yes the Yongnuo RF-603 N3 version will work for the D3000 (but I do not own a D3000 and can not test it 100% to say that it will). Truly any of the Yongnuo RF-603 will work as a flash triggers tho if thats what you are looking for, the difference in versions come in the little cable that it brings to be used as a wireless shutter release.
