What is "Utah food?" Many Utah natives grew up eating Jell-O, fry sauce, deep-fried scones, and "funeral" potatoes. BYU folklorist and English professor Eric Eliason is studying these food traditions and what they say about people and cultures. Utah festivals and fairs celebrate these traditions and offer authentic Utah foods all in one place, often introducing new variations like deep fried Jell-O.

Navajo Tacos. Definitely a Utah/Mormon dish that I love.

Feeling a little homesick. I was born and raised in Utah, and moved to California as a teenager. I still remember going to my first California diner and asking if they had scones, and getting a weird look.

Lmao funeral potatoes are good. I still can't understand how people outside Utah generally don't know what fry sauce is.

Is the dish or the name "funeral potatoes" what is unique to Utah? The same casserole is a part of Midwest and Southern comfort food.
