This fantastic looking Ford Escort Mk1 is the current Monster raced by multiple Irish HillClimb Champion Gerard O´Connell. It actually uses a Space-Frame with GRP bodywork, all built by SHP Engineering, weighing in total only 750Kg, all while being powered by a "top-of-the-line" 2.8L Naturally Aspirated Millington engine producing around 370Hp.

Here you can watch it attacking St. Goueno Hillclimb in France where it won the event among its class. An impeccably finished unit it mixes the Iconic look of the timeless Ford Escort Mk1 with Modern Racing Chassis expertise, Mechanics and Technology.

The 4 Cylinder NA 2.8L engine unit uses a custom Simpson Racing exhaust system and manifold with all power being sent to the Rear Wheels through
a 6-speed paddle-shift operated Tractive gearbox, all managed by a DTA M100 ECU. Add to that AP brakes, Ohlins 4-way adjustable suspension, Avon tires among a whole host of other goodies and the final result is something very very impressive...

Mk1 Escort was my first car, it was a fantastic motor car and always remember it fondly. We just a 1.3 lt engine it was not quite a quick as this one.

Somethings get better with age, this old escort is a perfect example of that.
I wasn't a fan of the mk1 escort when this car was new, but it's a great looking classic compared to any of todays bland rubbish.
