I remember jumping on a tube and bus to travel to the other side of London to buy this when it was available in limited supply at a certain record store in the mid-80`s. Hard trek during the rush-hour but worth it in order to own this masterpiece and undoubted classic.

Steinski is a good friend of mine. We used to swap sounds back then. Seminal mix here.

How this seminal mastermix could have so few listens is beyond me.

Man keep putting these old mixes up. I had this way back got it from flea market i think it was labeled scrathmaster mix. Hope you put up the other side. People dont know about this kind of stuff. To me this is the real old school. These mixes is what got me to start dj and scratching. People like you keep this alive

Thanks so much for putting this up. My tape of Lessons 1 and 2 recorded from Capital Radio c. 1984 went missing many years ago. Essential listening!

This is years ahead of its time - it sounds like Coldcut or Bomb the Bass, but from 1984! Or 1985, I'm not sure.

I first heard this brilliant mix around 81 or 82 on the Soulfinger Show on a West Coast- public service station (maybe out of frisco? can't recall now), on my old transistor radio! Soulfinger was such an innovative dj- playing afro, latin, Brazilian etc etc etc long before many others. What happened to him? And yes The Shelf - got mine from City Sounds eventually a couple of years later, haha ! Great record shop.
