Hi Jules and Saud i’m a vet assistant and in school to be an RVT, maybe i could help you feel a bit better about the situation with your piggie girl! An enlarged heart is very common in older dogs and can mean a bunch of things. Thankfully there are medications to maintain the heart which will expand her life if worse case scenario. The good thing is she’s not showing any signs of congestive heart failure so hopefully it’s not heart failure. The cardiologist will be able to determine whats going on. Wishing you all the best, we love piglet!

I lost my dog in 2022 to cancer. She was 11 years old, we lost her a week before my birthday. She was my soul dog, she helped me through some of the most difficult times of my life. I broke down when we lost her, i still cry for her everyday. We have a shrine to her in my living room. This video made me think of her! Thinking of you and piglet ❤ she is a strong dog, she will get through this ❤

As someone who’s lost 2 dogs before, I can tell you that it’s very hard. Losing a dog is really hard. I couldn’t even go to the vet with my parents the night my youngest pug passed away. It’s been 3 years and it’s still hard to this day. Losing the pet is the hardest. If you need anything I’m here for you.

This is what happened to my dog! He was a pitty and I had him since I was 3. (I’m now 13-14 on December 21) I lost him 3 years ago and it still hurts me, so watching this video, I understand what you’re going through guys! He had an enlarged heart and died through a heart attack or a seizure. It was tough and I’m still not over it! I love you guys and I understand what you are going through! ❤❤❤

As someone who works in veterinary medicine, I’ve seen dogs with enlarged hearts but an echocardiogram (the ultrasound you’re talking about) showed everything was normal. Even if there was an issue, medications can really extend their lifespan and maintain quality of life. If Piglet was in full blown heart failure, that would be evident on x-ray. Waiting for a cardiologist while your dog is clinically stable is very normal. The cardiologist we refer to is booking out until April, so January is actually good.
