Taunts have been an integral part of the Age of Empires experience, and AoE4 is getting a set of its own in October. But how do they fare against AoE1, AoE2, AoE3, and Age of Mythology? Let's find out!

I was going to write a long comment on what i think about the taunts. But you pretty much nailed my opinions on this so well I don't need to make a comment on that.

While I do see the potential for toxicity, I am glad they kept this tradition. Looking forward to meme-ing with my buddies once the official patch drops.

On a side note, I wish they add voiced “personalities” for the AI civilizations like in AOE3 (Napoleon, Ivan the Terrible, etc.).

I've barely ever heard the englisch taunts for all those games (except AoE 4) so far, as I always played them in german. And I've to say, that I am quite surprised to see how much better nearly every taunt in every game (but AoE 4) is delivered in german, especially in AoE 1. *
So guys, if you can understand german and like the taunts, play it in german. 11

After watching this video I conclude AOE3 has the best taunts of the franchise. 👌

As an AoE2 player who is bilingual in Chinese and English, I think some of the (Simplified) Chinese taunts are even greater than the English ones, especially 48. There’s also another decent set of Chinese taunts for Traditional Chinese, acted by Taiwanese people I believe. It’s great how AoE2 got fantastic voice taunts in multiple languages. AoE4 should definitely learn from the legacy.

AOE 1 has some of my favorite, I personally love the group ones and I think the outrageous silly voices work great for that game and the era it was released. An honorable mention would be the farmer one in AOM, I think that one could be S tier. "Your really tough when your fighting un-armed farmers" thats great really comical and fits the games since raiding is frequent and rewarding

The group one sound so disconcordant in the age 4 ones like they have slightly different starting time of the voice line. Most of them are alright but the start the game already and laugh from 2 is unbeatable.
