Im German and I love my job, I can start work between 6 and 9 AM and can leave from 02:30 till 7 PM. Of course I’ll try to start work as soon as possible so my afternoons are free 😊
If you work fulltime you have to take a 30 Min lunchbreak, in some companies it’s an hour but that also means, that you have to stay there longer.

In the US, it's common to always be on call. If you have a presentation, you are expected to put in extra time to meet your deadlines. This includes skipping lunch, or eating while you work. Companies can do this because workers earn a flat salary, rather than getting paid hourly. Companies frame salary work as being a benefit, suggesting that there will be some days where you will work less than 8 hours. This almost never happens and in some cases is grounds for termination. Perhaps I should move from the US, to Germany. Aber zuerst muss Ich mein Deutsch üben.
