Wildfires in Los Angeles have killed at least 10 people, as officials warn more high winds could further fan the flames.

The wind forecasts and drought conditions mean a red flag warning, indicating critical fire conditions, is in place across Southern California.

Five fires are still burning and a man has been detained on suspicion of starting the latest fire.

However, the local fire chief said there is currently no "conclusive evidence" that the wildfires were started deliberately.

I was in LA in 2004 then 2016 and the fire was always a big fear specially up in the hills. Friends from Topanga Canyon had to evacuate this time. Very worried about them and their family. Can't imagine how difficult this is.

One of the really horrifying things here is that the home insurance market dropped a whole bunch of people in the area, so many of these people have lost everything.

When I heard he lost his cat my heart broke. What horrific fire. You always just hope in these situations to at the very least get your family and pets out. Not being able to get your pet is just devastating. The guilt would be everlasting. RIP to all creatures lost in this horror.
